I, like the fine proprietor of this blog, believe that "man made global warming" is nothing more than a big phony plan by luddite lefties that hate modern society to turn us back into an agrarian utopia. I was therefore shocked and appalled to see the Republican Party join the madness .
The Republican platform may include a first-ever plank on global warming, an examination of a draft document indicated."Increased atmospheric carbon has a warming effect on the Earth," The Hill reported the draft document as saying. "While the scope and long term consequences of this warming effect are the subject of ongoing research, we believe the United States should take measured and reasonable steps today."
Ok, I know, it’s a draft document. Maybe something has changed since that story came out?
The first thing that’s scratched out is “Global Warming and” at the top of a section that used to read “Global Warming and Environmental Protection.” The energy subcommittee — whose task is to draft energy- and environmental-policy language of which the full Republican Platform Committee can approve — decided to strike the phrase “global warming” anywhere it appeared in the document, either replacing it with the more neutral “climate change,” or removing it altogether.
The global warming vs. climate change debate was part of the effort to find a common ground between McCain, who believes that warming is an urgent threat that requires an aggressive reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions, and Republicans who are skeptical of such claims. The substitution was “a good compromise,” a delegate on the subcommittee told me later
Well as long as we call it climate change…
I mean, up here in the northern reaches of the country I’m already seeing the yearly climate change. It’s slowly turning to fall. Heck, that climate change happens just about 4 times a year in these here parts.
Of course the best part is that striking "global warming" for "climate change" was a good compromise.
I’m sorry. I thought the Republican Party stood for things like reason and science, of which there is none in the "man made global warming" harangue. The left has perverted science to "prove" that it exists and that something must be done and sooner rather than later.
And John McCain buys that crap?
Why does he bother calling himself a Republican?
And if the Republican Party can not be distinguished from the Democratic Party, why do we bother with the charade of elections if there is no difference between the parties?
Sincerely… your Northern Correspondent

John McCain isn’t really much of a Republican.
Which makes it more of a joke that he IS the candidate for the Republicans.
